All IR-Ratings can be converted to an EASA IR Rating.
According the new EASA regulations of 4-2014 there are now:
Two available ways to convert your IR rating.
Full IR-Conversion
The IR(A) normal conversion according EASA consists of:
Theoretical training
The full IR theory training with 7 subjects and 7 written exams is required or you have the ATPL written exams, this will cover the IR area.
If you need to do the IR theory – please have a look at our distance learning, or residential learning program.
Ground School
If you convert only form ICAO to EASA IR, you will not need any ground school before you can go to the written exams. If you do the ATPL theory, as a higher level, you need to do all the theory training and the ground school.
Flight training
this can be done for SEP and for MEP.
At the end there will be an IR-Skill test on an SEP or on an MEP.
INTERESTED IN CONVERTING YOU IR?
Competency based IR
The conversion according EASA consists of:
No written Theory exams are required any more!
What to do:
Basically that will be all.
But – please be aware, the requirements for an IR (A) skill test according EASA are much higher than for an FAA‐IR initial skill test.
Knowing this situation we suggest every pilot, who is not a very experience IR-Pilot to undergo a small refresher training (theory and praxis),
you can do this refresher training with us, and we will prepare you for the skill test, so that you will have no problem to pass it.
In the end you have to fly the IR (A) Skill test with one of our examiners in Jerez.
This is the same skill test, as it was according EASA for the IR(A)
The entire training will be in our Training Centre at Jerez Airport, both flight training and studying in English.
