Mentor based training

“Big enough to cope, Small enough to care”

This is our motto at Fly-In-Spain, but how do we achieve it?
The answer is that we have a unique Mentor-based training system at FIS. At Fly-In-Spain, the residential students will be assigned to a specific Instructor.

This Instructor will be your Mentor throughout the process of passing your ATPL’s with no more than 3 students assigned to each Instructor. The ATPL ground school can be daunting and at some times overwhelming.

Your Mentor is there to guide, assist and help you overcome the sheer volume and complexity of the ATPL’s through to completion. No other school assigns a particular individual to be your mentor and this is a major reason for the high pass marks that FIS Students enjoy.

Three steps to heaven

FIS offers 3 routes to passing your ATPL’s. Let us look at each one in turn…..

Residential Course

This is a full time course that is split into 3 modules. The course is a total of approximately 28 weeks.
It is a University-style course where you will attend daily lectures which are planned and scheduled in advance.

You will be living in local accommodation and travelling to the training centre on a daily basis.
The lectures start in the morning, allowing plenty of time in the afternoon for revision and self-study.
This is the best route to passing the ATPL’s as you remain highly focused on the task and you remain completely immersed in the learning process.

PROS

Highly Focused training

Immersive training environment

Disciplined Approach

Few distractions

Fastest route to passing exams

Very low accommodation costs

Lowest cost of living in Europe

CONS

Difficult to have a full-time job whilst studying.

Semi-Residential Course

This course, like the Residential Course is full time split into 3 modules for approximately 28 weeks.
You will attend daily lectures via a video link (Zoom or Skype) to the classroom which are planned and scheduled in advance.

You can remain at home whilst joining-in with the very same Residential lectures held by the Ground Instructors whilst maintaining an interactive connection.
You are still a part of the Class, but just not physically in the same room.
This is the next best route to passing the ATPL’s if you cannot afford the costs of accommodation of a residential course.

PROS

Highly Focused training

Stable, disciplined approach

Few distractions

Fast route to passing exams

Very low accommodation costs

Does allow capacity for part-time working

Can allow home responsibilities to be met

CONS

Difficult to have a full-time job whilst studying.

Self-paced Course

This course is almost completely self-paced, self-study.
You will be provided with training materials, lecture notes, mock-tests and eMail support from our lecturers.
This offers the best of both worlds.

Fly-In-Spain Ground Instructors will be available through an eMail group to assist you if you ever get stuck on a particular subject or alternatively we can provide one-to-one video sessions if you believe you need additional help.
You can choose the lowest-cost route to passing the exams, but still benefit from the assistance and experience of professional ATPL GroundSchool Instructors.

PROS

Lowest cost route to the ATPL’s

Self-paced, no pressure

Lowest accommodation costs

Can continue to work full time

Brush-Up Sessions boost pass rate

CONS

Requires high self-discipline

Home environment can negatively impact learning

Distractions from work or family can effect learning.

All three Courses have the same structure, however the timing for the Part-time course is at the discretion of the student. The Residential and Semi-Residential courses start at Section 1 approximately every 7 months.
When space allows, it is possible to start mid-way into a course by starting on (say) Section 3, and then moving onto Section 1 followed by Section 2.
